In December of 1891, a young YMCA instructor named James Naismith hung two peach baskets, rolled out a soccer ball, and wrote 13 rules for a new game.

There were no backboards.

For more than a decade, basketball was played that way.

No Backboard Basketball is the remix of Naismith’s original game.

We removed the backboard
No banks. No lucky bounces.

We play on a smaller rim (16-inch UHoop)
A tighter target increases focus, precision, and consistent shooting mechanics.

360-degree access to the rim
Without a backboard, players can score from any angle.

Continuous play — no stoppages
After made baskets, the ball stays live out of the net. No timeouts.

Short, high-intensity games
Games are played in fast segments and repeated reps. Every possession matters.

The pace forces fast decisions
Speed demands thinking. Spacing, timing, and basketball IQ are rewarded.

We didn’t change the game to be different.

We changed it to restore what made American basketball special.

The NBBL Showcase Gym will be the first No Backboard Basketball training gym and content studio—a place to develop players, produce media, and test what the future of basketball can look like.

In 2025, more than 5 million organic views signaled something clear: it was time to build our own space.
